About Footsteps 2005

Blackstone
River Valley "Footsteps in History" Preserve America Weekend
highlights the historic and cultural attributes
of the Blackstone River Valley by providing a weekend to
celebrate historic, cultural and artistic sites. Programs,
activities, and open houses will provide the opportunity for
the public to enjoy and learn. This event will involve the
24 communities located in the Blackstone Valley.
The date for the event is Columbus
Day weekend (October 8, 9 and 10, 2005), and is intended to
become an annual event.
Based on the Preserve America
designation awarded to each city and town within the Valley
in June 2004, the Tourism Collaborative is directly linked
to this federal program. The Preserve America program is a
White House initiative to encourage and support community
efforts for the preservation and enjoyment of its precious
natural and cultural heritage.
Stay tuned to this web site for a list
of all the sites and events that will take place during the
Columbus Day Weekend, in addition to a map depicting the
various historic sites located throughout the Valley.
