About Footsteps
Blackstone River Valley "Footsteps in History" Preserve
America Weekend highlights the historic and
cultural attributes of the Blackstone River Valley by
providing a weekend to celebrate historic, cultural and
artistic sites. Programs, activities, and open houses
provide the opportunity for the public to enjoy and learn.
This event will involve the 24 communities located in the
Blackstone River Valley. The date for the
event is Columbus Day weekend (October 11, 12, 13),
and is an annual event.
As part of Footsteps in
History, we are introducing a new program to promote one
event each weekend in each of the 24 communities of the
Blackstone River Valley. More
Based on the Preserve
America designation awarded to each city and town within the
Valley in June 2004, the Tourism Collaborative is directly
linked to this federal program. The Preserve America program
is a White House initiative to encourage and support
community efforts for the preservation and enjoyment of its
precious natural and cultural heritage.
Stay tuned to this web site
for a list of all the sites and events that will take place
during the Columbus Day Weekend, in addition to a map
depicting the various historic sites located throughout the
Valley.
