Moonless nights on the sanctuary are hot, humid, dark, and full of flying insects. Joe has been inventorying moth diversity and abundance on the sanctuary for many years. Over 300 species have been found, with the height of diversity in July and August when 50 species can easily be seen. After a short indoor introduction and a check of flowers at dusk for hawk moths and other nectaring species, well walk the trails to light sheets and sugary bait set up around the sanctuary.
