6:00 pm Ranger Dan greets guests at the kick-off reception for Footsteps in History Preserve America program Columbus Day Weekend. Asa Waters Mansion, Millbury, MA

Day Seven Tuesday, October 4, 2005 Pawtucket to Providence

Highlights: Heritage Tourism Summit at Slater Mill, Pawtucket; Roger Williams National Historical Park and lunch with “Rev. William Blackstone”; John Brown House, finish walk at India Point, Providence

  • 9:30 am Breakfast at the Heritage Tourism Summit at Slater Mill (Pawtucket) with Preserve America representative from Washington, DC.
  • 12:00 pm Lunch with “Rev. Blackstone” at the Roger Williams National Memorial, Providence
  • 1:00 pm Walking Tour, John Brown House, Providence
  • 2:00 pm Walk to the Providence River

End: India Point, Providence River

Footsteps in History is sponsored by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Collaborative an organization representing the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. The Collaborative has also affiliated with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's Preserve America Program. The Blackstone Valley Tourism Collaborative encourages visitors to participate in the Footsteps in History Preserve America weekend by promoting a $1,000 Gas Give-a-Way contest through the over 130 sites participating in the weekend.
