Ranger Dan to Finish Blackstone Valley Walk October 4th at Providence River Walks to Promote Footsteps in History Preserve America Weekend October 8, 9, 10

Providence, RI. National Park Service Ranger Daniel Wegner will finish his Blackstone River Valley walk on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 when he reaches the Providence River at approximately 2:45 pm.
Ranger Dan is walking to promote the Blackstone River Valley Tourism Collaborative's upcoming Footsteps in History Preserve America weekend scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend (October 8, 9 and 10).

He will begin the day at the Slater Mill Historic Site (67 Roosevelt Street, Pawtucket) when he joins the Blackstone River Valley Cultural and Heritage Tourism Summit  Footsteps in History: Building Heritage Tourism in the Blackstone River Valley at 8:30 am for breakfast.

The rest of his schedule is as follows:

8:30 - 9:30 am Blackstone River Valley Cultural and Heritage Tourism Summit  Footsteps in History: Building Heritage Tourism in the Blackstone River Valley
Slater Mill Historic Site 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket Breakfast with Preserve America's Ron Anzalone of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Washington, DC.

12:00 pm Lunch with "Reverend William Blackstone" at the Roger Williams National Memorial, downtown Providence. The Reverend will be serving his favorite succatash.

12:30 pm Leave for John Brown's house

1:00 pm Joins Walking Tour of historic Benefit Street starting at the John Brown House, 52 Power Street, Providence

2:00 pm Begins final stretch along Power Street towards the Providence River

2:45 pm Reaches the Providence River at the Brown University boat house ramp off of Gano Street

Footsteps in History is sponsored by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Collaborative an organization representing the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. The Collaborative has also affiliated with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's Preserve America Program.
